About Me

Laura Lees

Hi, I’m Laura and I’m a full time professional wedding photographer based in Surrey. I have recently moved and have swopped City life and cocktails for a cute little cottage in the Surrey Hills, you may even catch me wearing a little more tweed and Barbour than I used to. I love where I live, giving me access to some beautiful places to photograph weddings right on my doorstep. I capture creative and documentary style images of amazing couples and I work in the UK and beyond for destination weddings.

I love what I do for a living and wedding photography is my full time job. Well, it’s not really a job. It’s a huge responsibility and pleasure to not only meet couples but work with them to produce images that will last a lifetime – and that they and their families will treasure forever.

What I do for a living is pretty cool, I get to photograph couples who are madly in love.

Every wedding is unique, the couples I work with are so very different. I pride myself on really aiding couples with the planning of their day. I have seen so many wedding across the years that I have also love to give some advice to couples along the way. This is why I offer every potential couples a FaceTime or SKYPE call in the first instance. This way couples can ask any questions they have and I can help with the vast experience I have within the wedding industry.

I like to have fun. This is really important to me, especially at a wedding which is a very social occasion. All couples and their guests feel totally comfortable as soon as I arrive – making everyone feel at ease to have great images captured across the entire day. You often hear words like ‘unobtrusive’, ‘blend in’ or ‘in the background’ – this is not me. I get stuck in, I am hard to miss and my energy for taking awesome photography shines through.

I am often asked what makes my approach and style different to other photographers – and it’s a very good question. I love taking unposed images of couples, their guests and family members. It would be very easy for anyone to rock up with a camera and take thousands of images across the day and evening – thinking they are taking ‘candid’ style photography. In my opinion someone passing a glass of champagne to another person is not really candid photography. Real candid photography is being patient and anticipating with my experience an awesome moment before it happens. That’s what makes me different.

So about me…I live with my partner Rory and I am crazy about him. He is super cool and very supportive of me not being around at weekends doing what I love! He runs his own coffee business….. so I drink lots of coffee. We have a wire haired sausage dog called Lola (after the Kinks song, not the Barry Manilow one!). She is amazing and we enjoy going on mini breaks in the UK with her. I love a good sing song and a boogie. I am a bit of a fan of Karaoke and also hog the stage when I have the chance to sing (badly I might add).

My parents are in their late 70’s and have just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary, they are as much in love today as when they first met – it makes me tingle. My sister was married fifteen years ago. There is a lovely black and white photo of my sister and brother in law as soon as you walk through the door in my parents hallway. It always reminds me how important my job is. The images that I take will be around many peoples homes – and make them smile for decades.

I love to climb, and have been lucky enough to summit Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro and Mount Toubkal. In 2017 my partner and I decided to go to Sri Lanka and learn how to cook Sri Lankan food….it was awesome. This year we are planning to go to Buenos Aires to learn how to tango!

Ultimately, I get immense satisfaction when deivering wedding day images to my couples. A wedding is a big deal, it’s one of the most important days you will prepare for together and I always feel totally blessed to be part of that.

If this all sounds good to you, then check out my recent weddings….it would be a pleasure to hear from you.
