The Great House at Sonning is a dream of a wedding venue. A rural wedding venue in such a gorgeous place – The Great House at Sonning is a beautiful place to tie the knot.
Rob and Dan were just so lovely to work with. Two very handsome, confident and very funny men indeed. They had their suits made at Beggars Run, and their wedding bands were stunning from Richard Huges. They both arrived the night before their wedding and stayed at The Great House at Sonning. The bedrooms here are totally lush.
The ceremony was held inside The Great House at Sonning’s main room with views overlooking the lawn. Blue skies and not a cloud in sight ensured that all the lawn games were in action and the formal more posed family photographs were a joy.
The speeches made my face hurt. Hilarious. Rob and Dan both work at the BBC – so it was a very entertaining mix of people. Their friends and family were just amazing to be around. After dinner Rob and Dan had booked a small boat to take them and guests around the Thames. This was breathtaking and everyone loved it.
I stole Rob and Dan throughout the day and evening for some time alone to get some candid photographs of them both. I really prefer taking couples for ‘pockets’ of time rather than a whole hour at a time. I feel couples are more relaxed and don’t spend too long away from their guests. Also, by taking the couple away for shorter periods it helps take advantage of the different types of light throughout the day.
It really was a fabulous wedding and Rob and Dan have posted some very kind words about me:
“Laura was such an integral part of our day, and I cannot recommend her and her photography enough. From the very start of the process she was helpful, engaging and a complete joy to work with. Most importantly, she is FUN and makes you feel totally at ease! She captured every moment perfectly, and we couldn’t have wished for better photos! They’re absolutely brilliant and we’re so happy with them. Thank you so much!”
Here are a selection of my favourite images from a very special day…..enjoy x
