I love a wedding in the City of London and this was was first time at The Anthologist. This funky space with dreamy interior and awesome cocktails is in the heart of the City on Gresham Street. Owned by Drake and Morgan, The Anthologist is a very contemporary wedding venue in London.
I met Greg and Lucy at The National Wedding Show at London’s Olympia in 2017. My partner Rory joins me on the stand every year – he owns a coffee business in London Bridge called Three Wheels Coffee. Turns out Greg buys his coffee from him most mornings – small world. The told me about heir plans for their day. They were getting married at the iconic Islington Town Hall and then off to The Anthologist for their party.
That is exactly what they wanted to do – throw a huge party. The Anthologist with it’s huge space on one level was perfect for this.
I stole Greg and Lucy throughout the day and evening for some time alone to get some candid photographs of them both. I really prefer taking couples for ‘pockets’ of time rather than a whole hour at a time. I feel couples are more relaxed and don’t spend too long away from their guests.
Also, but taking the couple away for shorter periods it helps take advantage of the different types of light throughout the day. I love walking through parts of Central London for photography with married couples. Most reasons why a couple choose a London wedding venue – is because they love London as a City! So contemporary images are a must.
The ceremony was gorgeous, speeches were hilarious and the entire day was a joy to photograph. If you fancy throwing a huge party of your wedding day – The Anthologist worked a treat.
Congratulations Greg and Lucy – you were both glorious to work with! Here are a selection of my favourite images from a very special day…..enjoy x
