Nothing prepared me for the sheer beauty of Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens. Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens is described as ‘The Finest Woodland Gardens in England’. First planted in 1801, the Grade I Listed gardens on the 240 acre estate feature an outstanding scenery throughout the year and particularly majestic as it blooms in spring or takes on the glorious colours of autumn. Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens is a perfect setting for a wedding.
Claudia and James were very excited about this new wedding venue (it’s only been hosting weddings recently). It really feels like you are on holiday as you are surrounded by incredible plants and scenery.
The bride was lucky enough to be staying and getting ready at the exclusive five star South Lodge Country House and Spa adjacent to the wedding venue. This place is gorgeous, nestled in the West Sussex countryside, it’s a total gem.
The couple decided to get married at St Barnabas Church in Ranmore, Dorking. This is a stunning church and one that I walk past many times whilst walking my dog! The church is about forty minutes from Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens which gives the newly married couple plenty of time to ‘take it all in’.
The ceremony was beautiful and the weather held out for a cracking wedding reception.
The newlyweds and I took some moments throughout the day and evening for some time alone and to capture some candid photographs of them both. I really prefer taking couples for ‘pockets’ of time rather than a whole hour at a time. I feel couples are more relaxed and don’t spend too long away from their guests.
Also, but taking the couple away for shorter periods it helps take advantage of the different types of light throughout the day.
Congratulations Claudia and James, you were both amazing to work with!
Here are a selection of my favourite images from a very special day…..enjoy x
