I love an unconventional wedding….especially at York House as I know this venue so well! This is exactly what the lovely Kara and Brad wanted. A small, simple, unconventional and intimate wedding day and evening. There were four venues involved in this very special day…so let me take you through them.
The Lensbury Hotel holds old memories for me, as I used to go to conference there many moons ago – and how it has changed. It’s nestled near the Thames in Teddington and I met Kara there whilst she was getting ready in the morning of her day.
Kara has the most beautiful Welsh accent, it was like being in an episode of the Darling Buds of May! Emotions were high, the champagne was on ice and Kara’s dress and shoes were a big WOW. The flowers we gorgeous along with a stunning floral crown from Wild About Flowers. Kara’s wedding dress from House of Mooshki was simply stunning and suited her in every way!
Our next stop was York House in Twickenham for the ceremony. I have photographed many wedding ceremonies here and just love it. The garden room overlooks stunning grounds, which is also excellent to walk through with couples after the are pronounced ‘Mr & Mrs’!
The ceremony was (in the words of Kara’s side of the family) ‘lush’. All guests were then asked to go straight down the pub whilst I walked with the new Mr & Mrs to take some photographs of them as newlyweds.
We then walked to their chosen pub for a tipple which was the Eel Pie in Twickenham. It’s a very old school traditional pub in Twickenham, it’s super cool. If you have never been to this fabulous watering hole it’s worth a visit. The Eel Pie, located on a quaint and quiet cobbled street just a few strides away from the River Thames and the legendary Eel Pie Island. It was a great place for a swift gin and tonic before our final venue. So, after some good old fashioned pints the Bride and Groom led the way to Brouge in Twickenham.
I have photographed at Brouge in Twickenham before. It’s a really cool Gastropub serving British and Belgian food and beers. The great thing about Brouge, is that they lay on a great area for the wedding party. Daffodils were the order of the day on all tables and the speeches were emotional.
Kara and Brad’s wedding cake was amazing, and there was lot’s of singing before dinner to Kara’s favourite music by Doris Day. All in all a fabulous wedding with fabulous friends and family. Kara and Brad it was my pleasure and I wish you all the happiness for your future together! Here are some of my favourites from your day…..
