Fonmon Castle is such a stunning venue for a wedding. Fonmon Castle is a very romantic Castle set in the Vale of Glamorgan in stunning Wales. I visited this Grade I listed Castle the day before the wedding of Kirsty and Joseph. Such a beautiful wedding venue, there are so many places that are gorgeous for creating long lasting photographs! I met Kirsty and Joseph at The National Wedding Show in London, we all ‘clicked’ straight away. They were looking for more natural and candid images from their day.
Within the grounds of Fonmon Castle there are tranquil gardens featuring benches, walking paths and old stone buildings, with an orchard, heated seating areas and fun lawn games, the Wedding Village at Fonmon is truly unique. Quieter corners of the gardens such as the Folly, Scented Garden and Summerhouse give beautiful backdrops for couples.
This couple just smiled, laughed and ‘smooched’ throughout the day. Their wedding ceremony was held in the Fonmon Castle library. With stunning Rococo plasterwork and gilded mirrors, it’s a delicate and light-filled room, perfect for Kirst and Joseph’s wedding ceremony.
Kirsty looked amazing in her wedding dress and the wedding ceremony was not only beautiful, but suited this couple so very well. I love taking newlyweds for their ‘couple’ wedding photos. So many opportunities here, we used the magnificent gardens for their images.
I really prefer taking couples for ‘pockets’ of time rather than a whole hour at a time. I feel couples are more relaxed and don’t spend too long away from their guests. After all, when you are just married you want to mingle and enjoy your reception before you sit down for your wedding breakfast.
Also, but taking the newly weds for shorter periods it helps take advantage of the different types of light throughout the day. You can see the different light in some of my chosen images for this blog about the great backdrops that Fonmon Castle have to offer.
I love photographing all types of weddings. Every wedding is totally different and there is something very special when I photograph a truly traditional Castle wedding like this. Congratulations Kirsty and Joseph, you were both amazing to work with. It was my pleasure to be part of your lovely wedding day. Here are a selection of my favourite images from a very special wedding day…..enjoy x
