Hackney Town Hall, London Wedding Photography: Meriel & Lois

Meriel & Lois are super cool….they just rock! I met Meriel and Lois at the start of 2015 in London Bridge. They own a wicked street food company called Club Mexicana, and I was there to photograph the grand opening of a pop up restaurant. They loved the images, and I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their special day. These two women are amazing, they have a great business and have been together for 7 years before Meriel popped the question.

Meriel and Lois go to Stunt Dolly in Dalston as their hair salon of choice. They took over the basement of this wicked salon that is filled with vintage ambience, making it an incredible backdrop to capture really cool and quirky images of the preparations. Dean and David are the owners (along with their cool dog named Dolly) and they could not do enough for everyone that day. I am a massive fan now of Stunt Dolly!

The venue was the art deco filled building that is Hackney Town Hall. I love photographing same sex weddings. Normally the couple meet each other outside the ceremony room and walk in together – really special moments can be captured. Meriel and Lois both looked stunning with jewellery and hair accessories from Tatty Devine, and after an emotional and beautiful ceremony – the entire party walked from Hackney Town hall to the party venue.

As if this wedding could get any ‘cooler’ – the party venue was a ‘pop up wedding’ style at Square Root London Soda Works. This venue was filled with festoon lights, with rows of wooden benches as seats for all the guests. Awesome venue that Meriel and Lois had work so incredibly hard to add all the special touches for their day. THE FOOD, oh my goodness, the food. The chef was incredible! Meriel and Lois asked Head Chef Adam from Pachamama London to cook for all guests. Pachamama is an incredible restaurant in Marylebone that is inspired by the culinary traditions of Peru – truly awesome food. A unique and cool wedding party that had it’s fair share of emotional speeches and an equally emotional slideshow at the end of the dinner.

I feel so blessed to have been around so many positive and happy people that day. I loved photographing this wedding from start to finish, I did not want it to end! A wonderful couple who I am looking forward to meeting up with for a beer or three to remember this special day. Love to you both xx
