A destination wedding in Tuscany is such an incredible experience. There is something so very unique about the light here in Tuscany. This is why I love mixing it up and photographing weddings abroad. So let me set the scene about this incredible destination wedding in Tuscany.
Seb and Nicole met when they were 17 and have been together for over 11 years now. They are both from downunder but simply love living here in London. Italy is their most favourite place together. Tuscany in particular they both fell in love with. For it’s food, it’s wine and it’s breathtaking scenery this was always going to be the place to get married.
All of their friends and family were travelling from literally around the world. They decided to book out the most amazing villa in Siena, Tuscany. Villa Catignano. Villa Catignano is nested in the heart the winemaking region of Chianti Classico. It is a magnificent 17th century building that was once a farming place and is now devoted to the production of fine wine & olive oil. This breathtaking Villa in Siena is now farm accommodation, carefully restored by respecting all the ancient, original features. When I arrived I was blown away by everything this Villa had to offer.
Being a wedding photographer is amazing. I get to spend time with incredible couples, their friends and family and go to some awesome places. I am a romantic, and can get emotional at certain times throughout a ceremony, speeches or first dance. Why? Because I get to know my couples, and I know how much their day means to them. It’s rare though that I turn up to a venue and get emotional just from being there. Villa Catignano had that effect on me. It truly is a wonderful ‘pinch yourself’ place.
I was lucky enough to be invited to arrive the day before Seb and Nicole’s ceremony day. There was a welcome party for all guests, and this was a great opportunity to meet everyone before the big day. Everyone and I mean everyone was ace. The staff were incredible, the food was out of this world. Everyone partied well into the early hours.
The following day was perfect. Nicole looked breathtaking in her dress. To the side of Villa Catignano are a double flight of steps leads to the Giardino all’Italiana. This Italian-style garden is divided into two main sections. The first has flower-beds bordered by box hedges and adorned with more box shrubs cut into spheres. The second forms the backdrop to the statues of the Four Seasons (Le Quattro Stagioni), has a large lawn with lemon trees. This is where Nicole walked down the aisle with both her mother and father.
The ceremony was simply beautiful and the evening was the kind of evening a bride and groom could only dream about.
I feel very lucky to have met Nicole and Seb. They are a wonderful couple who are truly meant for each other. Here are a few favourite images from the most amazing destination wedding photography in Tuscany.
