I met the gorgeous Katie and Sam at The Black Swan in Ockham, Surrey for their pre wedding photo shoot a few weeks ago. It was an ace way to spend a Saturday morning.
I chose three areas for them as they have ordered a signing book. A signing book is a lovely way to display your favourite pre wedding photo shoot images – and for your friends and family to write lovely messages in on your big day.
We met at The Black Swan in Ockham. I have been coming to this amazing pub and restaurant for over 20 years. I have seen it being transformed over the years into now a lovely place to dine. The food and staff are lovely here – and we were allowed in at 10am before the public arrived to take advantage of the lovely spaces they have for the shoot.
We then moved onto the woods in Ockham to get that real woodland scene. The last destination was an old disused paper mill. Why here? It has some great large sheets of corrugated iron that make for a more contemporary feel.
Katie booked me at The National Wedding Show last year and it was fab to see her one year on. We met at 10am in the morning to take advantage of this area being very quiet. And it was, perfect timing.
Katie and Sam were completely natural in front of the camera and totally in love.
What makes a great pre wedding photo shoot? An area that has lots of different spaces to work with. The light. It’s best if there is some sunlight to work with as this can really enhance the image. We were lucky enough to get some gorgeous morning sun peek through towards the end of our shoot.
Coffee. You need coffee that early in the morning! Thanks to the Black Swan for supplying us free of charge your amazing coffee and mint tea.
Feeling comfortable. It’s important that you feel comfortable in what you are wearing – Katie and Sam certainly nailed that. Avoiding ‘people heavy’ areas. I love meeting for sunrise or very early morning photo shoots. It’s like you have the whole place to yourselves and acts as a canvas for the images.
Thanks Katie and Sam for being so awesome that morning. Simply cannot wait to photograph your wedding in June.
Here are a few of my favourite images from this pre wedding photo shoot….
