A woodland themed wedding needs a woodland themed pre wedding photoshoot! That was the choice of the lovely Rachael and Matt who are getting married this July at Tewin Bury Farm.
They are a very patient couple as we had to reschedule this pre wedding photoshoot a few times due to the Great British weather. The day they chose was a cracker. Blue skies and just enough fluffy clouds to add a little atmosphere to the sky. A super cool couple, they really did not want any images that were too ‘posed’ so I just asked them to be them – and we all went for it.
What makes a great pre wedding photo shoot? An area that has lots of different spaces and places to work with is a good start. The light. It’s great if there is a glimmer of sunlight to work with as this can really enhance the image. The weather, if it is scheduled to rain or at the very least drizzle it’s always best to reschedule. You are only going to do this once, and you may as well hold out for better weather.
Feeling comfortable. It’s important that you feel comfortable in what you are wearing – also my top tip would be not to bring anything that you need to carry (handbags, shopping bags or any kind of bag!) as they will mostly spend time on the floor. Avoiding ‘people heavy’ areas. I love meeting for sunrise or very early morning photo shoots. It’s like you have the whole place to yourselves and acts as a canvas for the images.
Rachael and Matt chose Panshanger Woods for their woodland scene. This really represents them as a couple and is near their wedding venue.
Rachael and Matt booked me at The National Wedding Show at Olympia last year and it was fab to see them one year on. One last point about a pre wedding photoshoot – it makes you feel much more at ease having your photographs taken on your wedding day – and you get very excited by default!
Thanks for being super cool you two – here are some of my favourites from your pre wedding photo shoot.
